This dataset is a record of specimens sent from Kew's Museum of Economic Botany to selected regional museums, and a record of specimens received from these museums at Kew, between 1877 and 1938. The information includes names of recipients and senders, dates, descriptions and numbers of objects. The Kew exit data is based mainly on entries in the 'Specimens Distributed' books held in the Economic Botany Collection, supplemented (for the period before 1881) by other archival sources. The Kew entry data is based on information in the Museum Entry books. Where possible, there are item-level links to entries in the Specimens Distributed books which have been digitised for the Biodiversity Heritage Library website (https://biodiversitylibrary.org).

This dataset was created as part of research for the Mobile Museum research project, a collaboration between Royal Holloway, University of London, and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Links:
